Photoshop Tool Wins!

Brushes

For the good deal of my highschool life, I have done signatures for forums and brushes have always been essential in shaping the images within that small frame. Brushes gives you the ability to draw on layers, access texture packs and just cause general mayhem with the filters that's available in your disposal. However, brushes can also create powerful layer mask that allows you to selective mask certain objects with just a few strokes of paint. It is inevitably one of the most powerful tools for anyone to use. I give this tool a gold medal.

Marquee

I think anyone would agree with me that the marquee tool is possibly one of the most powerful tools in existence. It doesn't get things done, but it does enormous amount of groundwork that leads to getting things done. Without the selector tools such as the marquee, I think photoshop would be stuck in a rut a looooong time ago. Silver medal it is.

Layer Mask

Layer mask is by far one of the most powerful tools in photoshop, the only reason that I put this on the bronze category is because I tend to overuse brushes and the marquee tool. But layer mask allows you to change the same object over and over again. Layer masks have three simple functions: black eliminates pixels, white replaces pixels, and greyscale colors reduces pixel opacity. Through layer mask, it is possible to edit and merge images to your heart's content. It is possible to selectively blur images or create selective color corrections. One of the most powerful tools in an artist's arsenal by far.

That's it for this week.

Stay classy.
